Choosing a Webhosting Platform

Web hosting is MAJOR if you want your website/blog to be taken seriously. What’s even more critical is the company you choose to host your website.

WHAT IS WEB HOSTING?

Look at web hosting like the location you would rent out to have your business conducted it. Just like with a brick and mortar business, you want to make sure you pick the “right” place to set up shop. In the most basic sense, web hosting is making a website available worldwide on the internet.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Basic services from a web hosting platform include managing:

 • security
 • speed
 • updates
 • daily backups
 • customer service support

DOES WEB HOSTING MATTER?

Yes, depending on your needs.

If you plan to blog as a hobby and don’t mind potential downtimes where your site won’t work, you will have different needs from a blogger who is planning to blog a lot and potentially turn their hobby into a business.

For hobby blogging and blog newbies, I’d start out using BlueHost. It’s who I started with and they are everything and more. They know lots of people start out using them and their customer service is excellent.

For those that are wanting to go to the next level with their blog, definitely WP Engine.

WHAT IS WP ENGINE?

WP Engine is the company who owns a server and rents out web space for website hosting. They are who you would go to register your domain name, get email hosting (ex. mine is me@druekinler.com), and such.

WHAT’S THIS GOING TO COST ME?

Check out more on the plans that are right for you here.

WHY WP ENGINE IS A GOOD CHOICE:

For one, I truly believe they are the best. They are experts in technology, innovation, and customer service. WP Engine will keep your systems running fast, scalable and secure. For the non-tech savvy like myself, a customer service team is key. I come with a lot of questions and luckily, they have the answers.

 • Bandwidth
 • Programming Services
 • Uptime
 • Disk Space
 • Customer Service

CONCLUSION:

Starting a blog can be scary. Turning that blog into a business can be even scarier. Finding the right web hosting can solve lots of head-ache technical problems to save you LOADS of time in the future and that’s exactly why I love WP Engine. Why waste more time on things if you don’t have to?

If WP Engine seems like something you’d like to try out, they are having a special for the month of October where they are giving 30% off your first payment. Save 30% off your first payment with WP Engine with coupon code: halloween2017. Expires 10/31/17.

If you are using WP Engine or have recently switched to WP Engine, let me know about your experience so far in the comments or by email, I’d love to hear. If you’re using a different web-hosting platform, which one are you using and what do you like/dislike about it?
