Life is a Choice

As a child, I thought all adults had it “together” but as I’m growing older and establishing myself in my career and working with adults who are 2 and 3 times my age, I’ve slowly begun to realize that age really is just a number. But why are so many people doing something they aren’t completely happy with? Why aren’t we living to our potential? What are we so scared of? It’s life. It’s meant to be lived, not put on autopilot.

Which brought me to the conclusion that everything is a choice.

How you decide to feel.

How you decide to react to a situation.

How you feel about yourself.

Who you love (and continue loving).

What you do with your life.

How successful/unsuccessful you become.

Etc.

If you have never met me, I am the most unrealistic person you’ll ever meet and I’m so okay with that. Shamelessly enough, I’m most interested in following what my heart says and living my life to what feels right. I’ve never believed that life is “just life” if you’re not completely fulfilled or if you’re not happy in the situation you’re in. I’ve never believed that I wasn’t completely in control of how my life turns out. I’ve never believed that the cards I have been dealt completely controlled how I played the game or were the results of a predetermined outcome.

Yes, I get it. You can’t control every aspect of what life throws at you..but you can control how you deal with those situations. It all starts with a choice.

I also get that we all have a past. No one is perfect and no one has a perfect life. It’s not a death sentence if you had a rough start or if you went down the wrong road for a little bit. It’s the mission we were put on this earth to live out. We wouldn’t have been handed it if we couldn’t deal with it. It’s our choice to either fix it or throw the towel up. Failure doesn’t actually exist but instead is an opportunity to learn and grow to become better.

My favorite author said, “It’s not your fault if you’re screwed up. It’s your fault if you stay screwed up.” Another choice.

The point in my writing this to ask is, What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? What does your faith give you the freedom to do or become?

“There is no such thing as realistic when you are working with vision.” –Ceceila Stoll

You think it was “realistic” of God to create the world in 7 days?

“But that’s just not the type world we are living in today!”..

Yeah, no comment (rolling eyes emoji…)

I’m not sure if ya’ll realize this yet, but we are humans!! ..crazy right? We have no earthly idea what God has planned for us because we can’t imagine it! Our minds just aren’t built that way. Cool thing is, we don’t have to! He’s got it covered, just trust in Him and let your faith take over and know that it’s gonna be okay.

We aren’t here for a long time, we’re here for a good time. We will die one day! We won’t be young forever! We are NOT invincible! Time passes, really really fast!

….Hopefully all of this isn’t news.

The great thing about life is that we never stop evolving. There is a wave of change happening in the world. Think about the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, etc. Not one decade is the same. So why would ours be?

What was once considered the “norm” isn’t anymore. Millennials are coming in and changing the world. We’re getting into the workforce, realizing it’s NOT for us, we’re also realizing that the education we paid tons of money for isn’t getting us the jobs we thought we were guaranteed, so we’re using our adaptive nature and using the resources we do have to create new avenues. Instead of dealing with the cards we’re dealt, we’re finding ways to live the life we want. We don’t just accept life for what it is, we’re making life what we want it to be.

OMG. Do ya’ll realize #whatatime to be alive it is?? (…yes, drake reference.. couldn’t resist)

We have social media. We have the internet at our finger tips. 16 year olds are making 100k+ a year from a YOUTUBE channel and buying luxury cars (True statement from Car Salesman at the Mercedes Benz dealership in McKinney, TX), people are making money from INSTAGRAM and BLOGS, people are getting paid to travel! Like they aren’t super men and women, they have the same capabilities as any other person on this world. PEOPLE ARE DOING WHAT THEY LOVE AND GETTING PAID FOR IT!

We’re realizing there is such a thing as making a living doing something that fills us with happiness, that allows us to travel, that gives us more than two weeks of vacation time off each year, the list goes on. Life is a choice and it’s what you make it.

Life is a gift. It’s beautiful. It’s amazing. It’s meant to be lived.

These things we make a big deal, aren’t actually that big of a deal if you look at the bigger picture. These “things” and “tasks” we do at a job we don’t completely love aren’t that big of a deal if we look at the bigger picture. In the end, the only thing that really matters is if we did something that set our soul on fire, how we loved others and made them feel, and how we spread love and kindness to each person we came in contact with. That’s the only real thing we leave behind. That’s our only legacy. Goodness never stops. It never stops spreading once a catalyst has ignited it. Think about how good you feel when someone does something nice for you, you do something nice for someone else and that person does the same, the cycle goes on and on.

I always say, I don’t care how rude someone is to me.. It’ll never change how I treat someone else. Let the bad stop at you too.

Stop reading these inspirational quotes we see on Pinterest and Social media and actually DO them. They’re real. Actually be the change you want to see in the world. Whatever that may be.

Follow your dreams and don’t conform to what you think you “have” to do. YOU choose. It’s simply not worth it not to.

These are the exact reasons I love Arbonne. We continue to give, we continue to love and our main goal is simply to help people. Everything else will come after you take care of people. If you ever watched a video or read anything I put on this blog, you’ll now understand what I mean when I say Arbonne aligns with my values and speaks my language.

We empower each other to be our best selves, to strive for what’s possible, to be able to travel and enjoy life, and to be unrealistic.. Why not? What’s there to lose when there’s everything to gain? Best part, God is the center and behind it all and we keep that on the forefront of everything we do.

With all of this being said, I’d like to point out that unlike our 2017 mindset would have us to believe, we can’t have immediate gratification on absolutely everything. Some things DO take time, but the time passes anyway so, who cares? If you don’t like where you’re at, what are you doing to change it? If you don’t do anything different today, where will you be in 5 years? If you’re okay with where you’re at, then this doesn’t apply to you but if you’re not and you feel like you’re worth more, wyd ???

Another unfortunate truth is that “we” are so scared of what people will think of us if we do something different or out of the norm that we don’t even try. We stay in this shell hiding ALL of our potential God has given us. When in reality, WHO CARES?? Choose to think of the bigger picture. Choose to think of you. Stay in your own lane, don’t worry about what anyone will say or think. That stuff passes. It’s not real. It does not matter! ONE person’s opinion of you in a world of 7 billion…irrelevant. Not in a rude way, but not person on this world has an opinion that is relevant enough to hide the fire that God is trying to light inside of us. Be you and Do you, FOR you. The rest is just a façade and it means absolutely nothing unless YOU let it. It’s a choice.

So, most people who actually visit this page are in the 18-25 range (according to Google Analytics). If you’re 25, think about how quick the first quarter of your life went by…. If you make it to 75 you only have two of those quarters left, 3 if you make it to 100. Scary, right? Time passes and unfortunately, we are really here for such a short time. So in a world where failure doesn’t exist and the sky isn’t actually the limit, what would you do that sets your soul on fire? What chances would you take on yourself?

What are you going to do today to change what the rest of your life becomes?

You’re the author. It’s your choice.
